To The Summer That Lies Ahead!

A Little About Me!

Hi everyone, welcome to my blog!! My name is Feaven, and I’m a rising junior at the University of Michigan. I’m currently majoring in Public Health, and also getting a minor in Education. I’ll be going to all 3 sessions this summer; Currently in Stockholm, then off to Copenhagen, and then finally back to Stockholm! I can’t wait to take you all on this journey with me! 🙂

Why DIS?

I always valued independence, as I felt it was a way of truly growing as an individual. I took the first step by going out of state for college. However, I knew that there was much more to see and explore, barely scratching the surface of all that is out there. We are living on a planet with over 7 billion people, and time is so limited, so I knew I had to take every opportunity I could to see the world and all its beauties.

When I first heard about the DIS program and all it had to offer, I knew that if anyone would be able to help me achieve my dream of exploring the world and gaining a new sense of independence, it would be them. Studying abroad would bring me everything I wanted–that independence, a passion for learning, and the ability to explore–however I’d also be welcomed into a community that would support my goals, in order to make this first time going abroad the experience of a lifetime.

First Impressions!

Never did I think that I would fall in love with a place so quickly! Stockholm has been everything I’ve been looking for and more. Each and every part of the city is so unique and it’s like I’m in a whole new country with every place I go! I have felt like I’ve lived here for 10 years already, and it’s already starting to feel like home–thanks to the beautiful sights, the wonderful people, and the support I’ve received through DIS.

From beautiful sunsets, to taking a boat across the sea, to getting on and off at random stops on the train station, my first week here has already exceeded my expectations and I am beyond excited to share the rest of my story with you all as time goes on, so stay tuned for the rest of this amazing journey!
