Summer Course at DIS: Scandinavian Design & Architecture
My name is Lee Yan and I am born and raised in Hong Kong. I’ve always been a keen traveler and have a strong interest in international cultures. I will be a 5th year architecture student at Carnegie Mellon University and have a strong interest in urban design. Since Copenhagen’s urban design methods is world renowned, I am very excited to finally come here and experience the urban culture.
I’ve been in Copenhagen for almost a week now and it’s been exciting and a bit overwhelming. My first impression of Copenhagen is how nice and occupied the public spaces are, which is still my favorite urban feature. These public squares and parks are scattered all over the city, and enjoyed by both locals and visitors, especially when the weather is nice. Since the DIS campus is located in the city center, Copenhagen K, it is easily accessible to many of these places. We all know that Copenhagen is an “expensive” city, but what’s great about these places are they’re all free!
Other than architecture, I am also a food enthusiast. Prior to my arrival, I found out about a blog on the famous Danish dish smørrebrød and I wish to try as many different kinds as possible. During my time in Copenhagen I wish to learn about Scandinavian architecture as well as the food culture.
