A typical day in Copenhagen starts with an alarm at 7:00 am. Since I live at grønjordskollegiet which is around 30 minutes away, my daily schedule has been pushed quite early. One of the things I love about Copenhagen is the public transport. Especially since I am nervous about cycling along cars around the city, the metro system is a great alternative. The DR Byen metro station is located very close to my kollegiet, and only takes 15 minutes to get to Nørreport. The best part of it is that you will never wait for more than 4 minutes if you missed a train! The metro system which started service in 2002, is designed by KHR AS Architects. The stations become urban sculptures which move Copenhageners and travelers alike efficiently to their destinations.
The DIS campus is in a central location within Copenhagen K, and my favorite thing about it is that it’s close to the farmers’ market. It has become a habit for me to “drop by“ there before returning to my kollegiet. Whether or not I need groceries, it is simply delightful to circulate through the wide variety of food stores and looking at the colorful fresh produce.
When the weather is nice, I love heading to the close by Rosenborg palace garden with some snacks and drinks. It is definitely not true when people say everything in Copenhagen is expensive, because it is free (and great) to just relax under the sun, read a book or hang out with friends in the many public parks and squares around the city.
