My Top 5

On night one of our time in Stockholm, my friends and I sat down and created our “Bucket List” full of anything and everything we wanted to do throughout the next three weeks. With session one quickly coming to an end, almost all of the items on our list are checked off and I find myself looking back at the many memories we’ve been able to collect in our short time here. In this post, I want to share with you my top five favorite “Bucket List” items my friends and I have ticked off our list so far.

Swimmy Swim Swim

With all of the unusual warm weather we’ve been experiencing in Stockholm, my friends and I took the chance to go for a swim at Smedsuddsbadet – a beautiful park right in the middle of the city. While the water was definitely chilly, it was so much fun to hang out in the sun and see how the Swedes spend their summer days!

Smedsuddsbadet is such an amazing place to simply relax in the sun!

We Scream for Ice Cream

To go along with the hot weather, my friends and I have (maybe) created an unhealthy habit of getting ice cream after class. We love to explore Gamla Stan – aka “Old Town” – and eat our ice cream cones while getting lost on the old cobblestone streets.

One word: yum.

Dancing Queens

One of the first things my friends and I bonded over was our love of music. So it was only natural that we had to go to the ABBA museum here in Stockholm. I have never had so much fun at a museum – we made our own music videos, sang with a band, and took pictures dressed up as musicians! And then, of course, we came back and watched Mamma Mia! twice.

The ABBA Museum is a must see.

Tuna Castle(roll)

After doing some research on our residential neighborhood, Sollentuna, my friends and I quickly found out that there was a castle right down the street. So, of course, we had to fulfill our childhood dreams by visiting it. Not only was the castle beautiful, but it overlooked the water and had an amazing beach right out front – and it was only 10 minutes from our house!

Gotta love your friendly neighborhood castle!

Is that a Moose?

As an avid animal lover, I was so excited to visit the Skansen Zoo – the largest outdoor zoo and museum in Stockholm – and it definitely did not disappoint. The zoo showcased local Nordic animals like moose, seals, and bears, as well as historic Nordic houses and farms. It was like we had stepped right into the Swedish countryside!
