Five Days, Two Countries

This past week has been packed with adventures as we headed to Helsinki, Finland, and Stockholm, Sweden for our Study Tour! We got to see different co-working spaces that startups work in, such as the Helsinki Think Company, Microsoft Flux, Maria-01, Impact Hub, and SUP46. We got to see different startups in action in these spaces and engaged with these entrepreneurs who gave us a little insight as to what it took to get their businesses off the ground.

We also got to do really cool stuff on this trip, like visit the Microsoft Headquarters in Finland, where we got to test their up & coming technology. We also visited the most magnificent lake & forest in Finland, took a dip in the lake and warmed up in the sauna. In Sweden, we toured the Old Town and went to Skansen, the oldest open-air museum, to celebrate the Midsummer’s Festival. During our free time in Sweden, a few of us also trekked 40 minutes to visit Ikea (which we don’t have in Hawaii, unfortunately). Oh, and I can’t forget about all the amazing food they fed us every day – each day we had a different cuisine, like Indian, Italian, French, Swedish, and Finnish.

This past week on the Study Tour has been by far the best week of my life (not just of the program – of my life). Before this Study Tour, I didn’t get a chance to talk with many of my classmates, as we were all in different groups, and we were all so caught up in our own projects and practicums. Through this Study Tour, I got to bond with all of my peers, whom I can now call friends, and I made so many memories that will stay with me throughout my life. I am so so so grateful that I got a chance to participate in this Study Tour, and see different countries and experience all kinds of things with people that I love. It was bittersweet coming home to Copenhagen, but from this experience, I can confidently say that Copenhagen really is my home.
